Season Long Weed Control
This is used as the second half of a split pre-emergent treatment. It also has active post-emergent herbicide properties, so it should only be used on lawns. Other ornamentals should be protected.
Because it is used as a pre-emergent, it needs to be applied in the 3rd or 4th week of March. (Following an application of Barricade in the 4th week of February).
Weather conditions can sometimes be a challenge in March.
- Water the lawn or wait for rain a few days before application and allow to dry.
- The herbicide needs to be applied to dry lawns.
- Apply when temperatures are between 50 and 90 F.
- Winds should be less than 10 mph to avoid spray drift.
- The application rate for a tank sprayer is 6-1/2 Tablespoons per 2 gallons to treat 500 sq ft.
- So, a 2-gallon tank mixed at the above rate will cover half of one side of the front lawn. The entire 2-gallon contents will need to be sprayed into this section.
- Then, a second 2-gallon tank will be mixed to finish one side of the yard. In all, 4 tanks will be prepared and applied.
This is a broadcast coverage application, not a spot spray. "You must spray the entire area."
This application needs to be watered in, after waiting at least 1 hour. This will form the preventive weed barrier.
=> Mowing: Do not mow the treated lawn for 2 days after spraying.
Then, leave the clippings on the treated area. Do not bag them for best results.
You should see wilting and yellowing within 1 day.
Full effect is seen after 2-4 weeks.
